Engineering FAQ
Technical answers to accelerate your selection and integration process.
Selection IMU Module, Smart Sensor, or Automotive Smart Sensor?
IMU Modules output high-bandwidth compensated acceleration & angular velocity for customers with their own algorithms.
Smart Sensors feature embedded DSX™ fusion to output drift-free Pitch, Roll, and Yaw directly.
Automotive Smart Sensors are certified to ASIL-B/D standards, designed specifically for safety-critical ADAS applications.
Selection Do I need GNSS/INS, or is an IMU enough?
If you require absolute positioning (Latitude/Longitude) for outdoor navigation, a GNSS/INS module is essential.
If you only need orientation stability (attitude) or relative motion tracking (e.g., indoor robotics, stabilization), a high-precision IMU or AHRS is sufficient.
Precision Does the sensor come with factory calibration?
Yes. Every single unit undergoes our proprietary AutoCalix™ process. We calibrate bias, scale factor, and misalignment across the full specified temperature range prior to shipment: –40°C to +105°C for Automotive Grade, and –40°C to +85°C for Industrial Grade.
Stability How do you ensure long-term stability and drift control?
We use automotive-grade and industrial-grade MEMS with excellent Allan Variance specs. We ensure the long-term stability of the module through full temperature range dynamic calibration and our embedded DSX™ fusion algorithms.
Tools Do you provide evaluation kits and software?
Yes. We offer plug-and-play evaluation kits (USB/RS232) and the DS_RVision desktop software for real-time visualization and data logging, making initial testing effortless.
Integration Do you support ROS, CAN, RS232, or Ethernet?
We support standard industrial interfaces including CANFD, RS232, and TTL. For developers, we provide production-ready C++ SDKs and open-source ROS1/ROS2 drivers on GitHub. We can also provide Ethernet interfaces according to the customer's requirements.
Safety Are your products suitable for ASIL safety applications?
Yes. Our Automotive Series (IM7/IM8/IM9D/MS2A) is designed according to the ISO 26262 functional safety lifecycle, supporting ASIL-B to ASIL-D requirements for critical vehicle systems.
Ruggedness Can they be used in outdoor or high-vibration environments?
Definitely. Our robust aluminum housings designed to withstand high shock and vibration, making them ideal for mining, agriculture, and outdoor robotics.
Collaboration When should DAISCH get involved in our project?
We recommend engaging during the Proof of Concept (PoC) phase. Our engineers can assist with sensor placement optimization, protocol selection, and mechanical integration early on to prevent costly redesigns.
Ready to Evaluate or Integrate DAISCH Inertial Solutions?
From prototype to mass production, our engineers are ready to provide application-specific guidance.
